Pass-and-Play: Running Family Dice Night on One Phone
Pass-and-play means everyone shares one device, taking full turns or full games before handing it over. For dice games, the cleanest format is one full 13-box game per player, with each finished score saved by name to a shared high-score list.
Two formats that work
- Full-game rotation. Each player plays a complete 13-turn game, saves their score with their name, and passes the phone. Best for casual play: nobody waits long, and the high-score list is the standings.
- Turn-by-turn. Players alternate single turns on separate scorecards. Closer to the board-game feel but needs an app (or paper) tracking multiple cards at once.
For a shared family phone, full-game rotation wins: no setup, no player management, and a running house record that persists between game nights.
What makes a good shared-phone game
- Named scores. “212” means nothing next week; “Trevor: 212” starts an argument at dinner.
- Editable, deletable entries. Kids will save a score as “butt”. You need to fix that.
- Resume-anywhere saves. Family play gets interrupted; the game should pick up mid-turn.
- No accounts. One phone, many players; per-player logins kill the whole idea.
Feltzee was built for exactly this
Feltzee's high-score list is the family feature: every finished game can be saved with a typed name to a shared local top 10. Names are editable, and a swipe deletes a single entry without clearing the family record. There's a default player name in Settings for whoever owns the phone, and no account anywhere, so grandma's turn requires zero setup. In-progress games save automatically when dinner interrupts. The house high score sits at the top of the list until somebody at the table does something about it.

Quick answers
How do multiple people play on one phone?
Rotate full games: each player completes a 13-turn game and saves their score with their name. The shared high-score list becomes the standings.
Can scores be removed or renamed?
In Feltzee, yes: names on the local list are editable, and a swipe deletes one entry without touching the rest.
