Can You Play Yahtzee by Yourself? Yes, Here's How
Yes. The classic five-dice game works perfectly solo. Play the standard 13 turns and try to beat your own best score. Nothing about the rules requires an opponent; the scorecard itself is the challenge.
How solo play works
The rules don't change: 13 turns, up to three rolls each, every box filled once. What changes is the goal: instead of beating an opponent, you're playing against the scorecard and your own history. Solo players tend to obsess over exactly the right things: the upper bonus, smart zeros, and long-shot five-of-a-kind chases, because every decision is yours alone.
Making solo play competitive
- Keep a high-score list. A running top 10 turns isolated games into a career. Beating a personal best from three weeks ago is a real win.
- Set threshold goals. Crack 250, then 300, then 350. See what counts as a good score for honest benchmarks.
- Compete asynchronously. Daily leaderboards let you play alone but rank against everyone who played today.
Why Feltzee is built for solo play
Feltzee is a solo player's home table. Games save automatically mid-turn, so a round fits into any spare moment: play two turns in a queue, finish on the couch. Finished scores save by name to a local top 10, which doubles as your personal record book. Optional Game Center Daily and All Time leaderboards add that asynchronous competition when you want it (and stay completely off when you don't; no account, no sign-in). Haptics-only feedback means you can grind for a new personal best in bed, in a meeting-adjacent situation, anywhere quiet.

Quick answers
Is solo play different from multiplayer rules?
No. The turns, boxes, and bonuses are identical. Only the win condition changes: your past best instead of another player.
What's a good solo goal to start with?
Beat 200 consistently, then chase 250. Once the upper bonus becomes routine, 300 comes into reach.
