The 35-Point Upper Section Bonus: Why 63 Is the Magic Number
If your six upper-section boxes (Aces through Sixes) total 63 or more, you earn a 35-point bonus. Sixty-three equals exactly three of each number, so think of every upper box as needing 'three of its kind' to stay on pace.
Why 63?
Three Aces (3) + three Twos (6) + three Threes (9) + three Fours (12) + three Fives (15) + three Sixes (18) = 63. The threshold is built so that averaging three-of-each keeps you exactly on pace. You don't need three of every number; four Sixes (24) buys you slack to dump a single Ace (1) later.
Staying on pace
A simple way to track it: after each upper box you fill, ask whether you're above or below the three-of-a-kind pace for that box.
| Box | On-pace score | Surplus/deficit example |
|---|---|---|
| Aces | 3 | Scoring 2 puts you −1 |
| Twos | 6 | Scoring 8 puts you +2 |
| Threes | 9 | Scoring 12 puts you +3 |
| Fours | 12 | Scoring 16 puts you +4 |
| Fives | 15 | Scoring 20 puts you +5 |
| Sixes | 18 | Scoring 24 puts you +6 |
Bank surpluses in Fives and Sixes early; they're the cheapest way to cover an inevitable weak Aces or Twos box. Missing the bonus by a point or two is the most common self-inflicted loss in the game, which is why our strategy guide treats the bonus as priority one.
How Feltzee tracks it for you
Feltzee's scorecard shows the Upper Bonus as a live fraction, 0/63 at the start, counting up as you fill upper boxes, so you always know exactly how far off the pace you are. The Upper Subtotal line updates in real time, and when you cross 63 the 35 points are added automatically. No mental math, no discovering at the end that you missed the bonus by two points you could have found.

Quick answers
How many points is the upper bonus?
35 points, added once your six upper-section boxes total 63 or more.
Do I need three of each number?
No. 63 total is all that matters. Extra Fives and Sixes can cover a weak Aces or Twos box.
