Full House Rules: What Counts and What It Scores

A full house is three dice of one number and two dice of another, like 6-6-6-2-2, and always scores a flat 25 points. Under standard rules, five of a kind does not count as a full house unless placed there by the joker rules.

What qualifies as a full house

Exactly two ranks split 3 + 2. All of these score 25:

These do not qualify:

More hands that score 25, including low-dice and high-dice builds:

And one more miss: 4-4-4-5-6 is three of a kind with leftovers, not a full house. You still need the pair.

Does five of a kind count as a full house?

Under standard rules, no: a full house requires two different numbers. The exception is the joker rule: if you roll an extra five of a kind and your matching upper box is already filled, you may place it in the Full House box for the full 25 points.

Why the full house is always 25

Unlike 3 of a Kind or Chance, the full house pays a flat rate: 1-1-1-2-2 scores the same 25 as 6-6-6-5-5. That makes it a great home for low-dice hands: a cheap full house banks 25 points that would barely move the needle anywhere else, while big dice are better spent on the upper section or the of-a-kind boxes.

Is a full house the same in Yatzy?

Yatzy uses the same shape: three of one number and two of another. If you searched for a full house in Yatzy, the dice pattern you need matches Yahtzee.

Scoring is where the games diverge. Some Yatzy house rules and apps score a full house as the sum of the five dice instead of a flat 25. Feltzee follows classic Yahtzee rules and always banks 25 for a full house, whether the dice are 1-1-1-2-2 or 6-6-6-5-5.

Full houses in Feltzee

When you roll a full house in Feltzee, the Full House box simply shows 25 among the potential scores on your card, along with what the same dice would earn in every other open box. That's the real decision: 6-6-6-2-2 is 25 as a full house, but also 22 in 3 of a Kind, or 18 toward your Sixes and the upper bonus. Feltzee lays the numbers side by side so you can pick with your eyes instead of arithmetic.
